SPRING...? π·π±πΌπΊπ
Well I had a wonderful Half Term Holiday but being back has been a whirlwind!
So much so that the self titled 'Green Garden Girl Gang' have been awarded the level 3 in the RHS School Gardening Campaign and they don't even know yet!
Year 2s have started The Big Grow competition (set up by Innocent Smoothies)
The seedlings from Eco Club, The gardening Club, Year 5, and Year 4 are all suddenly bursting through...
...And despite the (2? 3? 4? I've lost count!) weekend storms the insects seem to be venturing out more and more!
Forest School has three new classes who were happy to face the mud and rain that sporadically splattered their explorations. Peeling bark off of twigs is always an activity children from ALL Primary Phases love to do. There's a lot of debate over whether the children should use Vegetable Peelers or knives for this task. I tend to teach the youngest to use a peeler until I know they have the focus and patience to move on to a knife. I have also found that children who know how to use a knife like to use them to carve, but still prefer a peeler to... peel! Which I guess makes sense!
As long as hard frost and snow don't hard the baby plants this time of year is about to get very busy in the polytunnel and raised beds. The woods are beginning to bloom with catkins and buds dotting the end of twigs, The birds are getting noist and busy collecting twigs, and daffodils are out en masse and beaming and brightening the grass!
Oh and speaking of daffodils, as today is March 1st...
Dydd GΕ΅yl Dewi Sant Hapus to all who celebrate!

At last I leave for work in daylight and arrive home in daylight too - which means the sky has become a beautiful backdrop to a long and winding road once again.
The dark evenings never really bothered me, winter is a good time to both snuggle up in the warm, and to get out and enjoy the festivals that fill this time of year. I loved the woodland themed lanterns at the Lightopia Festival at Chiswick House & Garden this year. They brightened up a crisp evening!
